The Accidental Tourist is a sober and slow-paced film with precious moments of comic absurdity in the middle of a deeply serious story about a man coming to terms with his grief.
Malcon Leary is a reserved, apparently unfeeling writer of travel books whose wife Sarah leaves him a year after the tragic death of their 12-year-old son. She needs him in her grief while he just lives on as if nothing has happened.
By coincidence Malcon meets Muriel, a dog trainer and a vivacious and slightly excentric single mom, who hits on Malcon quite persistently regardless of his reserve. She is his exact opposite. How does the saying go?
