A wonderful unsentimental comedy drama. The transparent style is unlike most of director Steven Soderbergh's earlier work, but it goes well with the story, which is based on a true story.
Julia Roberts gives one of her best performances so far as the resourceful, untiring, yet fallible Erin Brockovich, a divorced mother of three without any education at all.
Out of pity and a bad conscience Erin is employed as an assistant by Ed Masry, a lawyer, who failed to win a small lawsuit for her. There she stumbles on information that leads her to suspect that the huge company Pacific Gas And Electri has been polluting the water in the town of Hinkley with toxic chromium for years without telling anyone.
