Blast from the Past is a cute romantic comedy about Adam who is born in a bomb shelter and spends his whole childhood and youth under ground. He does not get to see the surface of the earth until he is 35 years old.
Adam's father is a half mad scientist who has built an advanced bomb shelter for himself, his wife and his unborn child. In 1962 he mistakenly believes that the communists have dropped the nuclear bomb so he locks the shelter up for 35 years - with himself and his family in it.
In the late 90s Adam leaves the shelter to buy supplies, medicine for his father and find a nice girl to marry. Adam's naivety, old-fashioned manners and lack of knowledge of the modern-day world is the fodder for the comedy.
Blast from the Past is not quite taut enough. Too many scenes seem superfluous or overlong.
