Any Given Sunday

Any Given Sunday is about American football, which may be a turn-off for many Europeans, so let this be a warning for those of you who have no interest at all in this sport. The original version of the movie is supposedly 12 minutes longer than the European one, and which is already overlong!
   The football team Miami Sharks is in trouble when the ageing star player Jack 'Cap' Rooney is badly injured. The inexperienuntried quarterback Willie Beamen replaces Rooney and surprises everyone by leading the team to victory, but the new star gradually becomes unpopular among his own players because he lacks team spirit. Stone's movie is not just about football. It is also about winning and losing and not least about the way we do it.
