The Parent Trap is a very funny and romantic comedy drama for children and their parents. The film might be overlong and give an idealized picture of real life, but that cannot spoil the pleasure of watching it.
In 1961 Hayley Mills played the double part of the twin sisters who lay a trap for their parents. Almost three decades later computer technology can work miracles. I did not find out that the 11-year-old twin sisters Hallie and Annie were played by one actress (Lindsay Lohan) until I saw the final credits.
Hallie and Annie live with their father in California and mother in London respectively. When they meet for the first time at summer camp, they put two and two together: they are identical twins! They come up with a plan to bring their parents together again. The first step is to swap places.
