The Perfect Storm is a spectacular disaster movie based on a true story about a storm hitting the North Atlantic and New England in 1991. Thus, the ending comes as no surprise, but still the movie is suspenseful.
The movie belongs on the big screen as its prime attraction is the impressive special effects.
The sword-fishing boat Andrea Gail has just returned to the small New England port Gloucester, but her skipper, Billy Tyne, is dissatisfied with his catch. Though his crew protest, he wants to go back out, this time even further away where the chances of filling his cargo are better - and where the weather is more changeable.
