On Our Own

On Our Own is a both funny and heart-rending story about 11-year-old Kasper and his younger half-sisters Sara and Julie who have to take care of themselves while single mother Linda serves a fortnight in prison for shoplifting.
   An almost inhuman responsibility is put on Kasper's shoulders. He has to do the shopping, the cooking, pay the bills and pretend that his father is looking after him and his sisters. If the guardian finds out the truth she will send them straight to an orphanage. The situation becomes desperate as Linda's jail term is prolonged.
   The simple story of On Our Own will mostly appeal to children although this is not really a children's movie.
