The Purple Rose of Cairo

Excellent comedy about the waitress Cecilia, who finds romance and adventure in the cinema. The world of the movies is much different from her squalid life in Depression-ridden USA. One day the hero in Cecilia's favourite film, The Purple Rose of Cairo steps out of the screen and falls in love with her. This unseen mixture of reality and fantasy upsets everyone, including the actor who has played the hero. The ending is unforgettable.
