There's Something about Mary

I never thought that I would see a film by the Farrelly brothers at the cinema, because even if I did enjoy "Dumb and Dumber", the comedy was more than just a bit too vulgar for my taste. Compared to "Dumb and Dumber" the frequency of crude jokes has drastically decreased in There's Something about Mary. The tone of the film is also more gentle. You get the feeling that the Farrelly brothers actually care about Mary - and Ted, who fell in love with her in highschool and hasn't stopped loving her.
Back in 1985 Ted feels the most lucky guy on earth because Mary has asked him to accompany her to the prom. Unfortunately, a certain part of Ted's anatomy gets caught in the zipper of his pants, so instead of going to the prom, he ends in the hospital and never sees Mary again.
Realizing that he can never live his life fully if he does not meet her again, Ted hires a private investigator, Healy, to find Mary, who now lives in Florida. Healy himself develops a crush on Mary, but he is just one of Ted's many rivals.
