Snow White: A Tale of Terror

The fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm has been rather extensively rewritten in Snow White: A Tale of Terror. The result is a dark and gloomy movie that is definitely not for children, but it could have become even more interesting if the scriptwriters had been more radical in their approach. Maybe that would not have left us with such a dull and old-fashioned heroine.
Sigourney Weaver's part is much more interesting. She is the jealous stepmother, second wife of the nobleman Frederick Hoffman, whose daughter Lilli becomes the object of her stepmother's envy and hatred. Lilli would probably not be in any danger had it not been for the magic mirror that her stepmother possesses.
