Midt i en jazztid ( In the Middle of a Jazz Age) is a fascinating portrayal of a group of young people in Copenhagen in the 30s. The central character is the law student Peter Hasvig, who is a carefree ladykiller, until he meets the sensual upper-class girl Vera Bagge. She lets him into her circle of privileged young people who only have one goal in life: to enjoy themselves.
At the same time Peter cannot forget his old girlfriend, the working-class girl Ellen. Where and to whom does he belong?
The tone of the film is basically melancholic, but the film also has some very funny dialogue.
