The Siege is a thriller that focuses on the consequences of US foreign policy, but even though it indirectly criticizes the muddled political game, it diplomatically avoids pointing the finger at anyone in particular.
A bus full of people exploding in the middle of New York is a warning of what a Middle Eastern terror organisation will not hesitate to do unless the Americans release Sheik Ahmed Ben Talal. The military claim that they know nothing of the abduction of the sheik - but of course they do.
FBI-agent Hubbard, who is in charge of the anti-terrorism task force, has no choice but to try finding every terrorist cell in the city, not an easy task, but he gets help from Elise Kraft, an expert on the Middle East with personal connections.
