Marvin's Room

Marvin's Room has teerjerker potential, but fortunately the filmmakers do not use choose option. Instead the film has become a moving, yet sober drama about two sisters who have not been on speaking terms for years because they did not approve of each others' choices in life, but now they get a chance to be reconciled.

Twenty years ago Bessie chose to stay at home to take care of her chronically ill father. Lee did the exact opposite: she went away to raise her own family.

When Bessie is told that she has leukaemia, she calls Lee to ask her to come down to Florida with her two sons because one of them may be a potential donor. It is a difficult reunion. Can the sisters forgive and forget? And who is going to take responsibility from now on?
