The Rainmaker

Review
The Rainmaker is an adaptation of a John Grisham novel, but do not expect a thriller. The film is rather a sober low-key courtroom drama, but the dragging pace and a feeble plot are obviously not the the film's advantage.
To make a living the idealistic law-student Rudy Baylor has to take a job offered by the notorious lawyer Bruiser Stone. One case is about an insurance company that refuses to pay health insurance to Donny Ray, a young man dying from leukaemia, but even though Rudy's opponents in the courtroom are experienced top lawyers, he refuses to be intimidated by them. The story bears some likeness to that of "Erin Brockovich", but it is not quite so good.
