Jenny and the Soldier
Soldaten og Jenny
1947 · 92 min.
Review
Social realistic drama highly critical of the inequality between rich and poor. Most of the film's issues are less relevant today, for instance abortion was illegal in Denmark in 1947, which is probably why the film makes less of an impression than it must have done when it was released half a century ago.
Fate has not been kind to the soldier and his new girlfriend Jenny. Their struggle to overcome the obstacles that fate puts in their way is contrasted with the easiness with which a wealthy and influential upper-class woman deals with a similar problem of an unwanted pregnancy.
