East Is East, which takes place in England in the early 1970s, is a brilliant bittersweet comedy about culture clashes in the ethnic melting pot that is parts of England.

George Khan is a Pakistani happily married to Ella, a born and bred Englishwoman. In spite of his own integration in English society by marriage, George insists that his and Ella's seven children live in accordance with Muslim religion and Pakistani customs. This inevitably leads to conflict as his adolescent children feel more English than Pakistani.
