Wide Awake

If you enjoyed writer-director M. Night Shyamalan's "The Sixth Sense", Wide Awake can be highly recommended as they share a preoccupation with life from a child's point of view and with the supernatural.

Compared to "The Sixth Sense" Wide Awake is a small film, but the portrayal of 10-year-old Joshua and his struggle to overcome the painful loss of his grandfather is insightful and moving. Joshua sets himself a task: he must find signs proving God's existence. Joshua's desperate search for God/the meaning of life worries his parents and the nuns at the Catholic school he attends, but there is nothing they can do.
