During the Spanish civil war Fernando, a young student, deserts the army and is offered shelter by Manolo, a friendly artist. He is reluctant to leave when Manolo's four beautiful daughters Clara, Rocio, Violetta and Luz return to the country cottage for the summer. Not surprisingly the air gets steaming hot with sensuality in Trueba's comedy, which is never really romantic in the traditional sense. Rather it is a celebration of passion, physical pleasures and beauty.
