Review
The producer Jerry Bruckheimer whose name is associated with slick, big-budget action movies is also behind Gone in Sixty Seconds, but compared to his previous successes such as "The Rock" and "Top Gun" the movie is a disappointment. Inane entertainment for people partial to fast cars and roaring engines. The cars, not the people, who are all one-dimensional stereotypes, are the centre of interest in this film.
Randall 'Memphis' Raines is a former master car thief who is placed in a dilemma when his little brother Kip falls into disfavour with the psychopathic gangster Raymond Calitri. Calitri wants Randall to finish the job his brother bungled: he has to steal fifty luxury cars in only four days. Randall has retired from criminal life six years ago so the only reason he takes on the job is to save his brother's life.
