Heavy

Heavy is a character-driven psychological drama set in a small town. Almost all of the scenes take place in a diner owned and run by Dolly who bosses her grown-up son Victor about. He is an awkward and overweight guy who cannot express his feelings for the sweet, new waitress Callie and has no hope of winning her anyway. When Dolly dies, Victor's life falls apart.

Victor is not the only sad character, though. He is surrounded by insecure, lonely and desperate outsiders, but the film ends on an optimistic note. James Mangold shows that people can change if they have the courage and the will power.
