What Women Want

What Women Want is a charming comedy that overstays its welcome as it is much too long considering its tiny, but brilliant idea: Nick Marshall, a successful copywriter, is suddenly given the ability to hear women's thoughts. At the beginning that is very frightening for the self-confident womanizer who finds out that women find him male-chauvinistic and conceited. Yet, gradually he learns to take advantage of his supernatural ability - and to understand women. One of them is his new boss Darcy whose job he covets. His new skill may help him get rid of her and clear the path for himself, but while scheming and intriguing he falls in love with her!

The first part of the film is also the best. At the end the sentimental story of the coming of age of Nick's daughter Alex takes up too much space.
