Bedazzled

Bedazzled is a moderately entertaining comedy about an insecure young man, Elliot Richards, who gets a good offer from the Devil. At first Elliot is a little hesitant, as he finds it rather hard to believe that the sexy woman in the shape of an on-form Elizabeth Hurley really is the Evil One himself.

The Devil offers to grant him seven wishes in exchange for his soul. That sounds pretty good, but there is always a catch, especially when the Devil is involved. When Elliot wishes to be rich and married to the girl he is secretly in love with, the wish comes true, but into the bargain his wife is unfaithful to him and he is a Colombian drug baron whom everyone is out to kill. Time and again Elliot is tricked, but in the end it is he who comes out on top.

Bedazzled is a remake of a film from 1967, and even though Brendan Fraser is in fine fettle in his many disguises, it seems superfluous to tell a story with so little to say all over again.
