Spy Hard

Spy Hard is, as the title probably makes clear, a parody of spy films, with James Bond in particular getting a roasting. One of the best gags is actually the James Bond-inspired opening. There are of course also allusions to other films that have rather less to do with the spy genre, e.g. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "Home Alone".

Leslie Nielsen plays the super-agent Dick Steele, who has to save the world from a power-crazed madman who was responsible for the death of Dick's girlfriend Barbara Dahl and has now taken her daughter prisoner.

Spy Hard is often really funny, but it nevertheless feels like a rather watered-down affair compared with the "Naked Gun" films.
