Shag

Shag has, to my great surprise, actually been released in Danish cinemas. It is, after all, a very American teen comedy. Carson is shortly to marry her fiancé, but before that her friends Melaina, Pudge and Luanne want to give her one last wild night on the town. The girls whisk Carson off to Myrtle Beach, where four nice girls from nice, wealthy Southern families don't normally let their hair down. The year is 1963, and the dance called the shag is all the rage. The weekend develops from harmless fun into a dramatic and unpredictable high point in the girls' lives, not least for the virtuous Carson, who is not quite as virtuous as she thought when a local guy launches a full-scale charm offensive. Shag was quite amusing to watch, a good mix of comedy and drama.
