The Mask of Zorro

The Mask of Zorro is a fun and entertaining swashbuckler if a bit overlong. Martin Campbell, who is also the director of "Goldeneye", proves once again that he is an excellent action director.

The story takes place at the beginning of the 19th century in the Southwestern part of North America where the old freedom fighter Don Diego de la Vega realizes that he has become too old for the name of Zorro. As a consequence he teaches a simple thief (Antonio Banderas) all the tricks so he can become the new Zorro and fight the treacherous Govenor Don Rafael Montero.

The Mask of Zorro was a breakthrough for Catherine Zeta-Jones who plays the govenor's irresistible daughter.
