All the President's Men

In All the President's Men Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford play the two Washington Post journalists, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, responsible for the disclosures that led to President Nixon's resignation.

Even though the outcome is known in advance, director Alan J. Pakula and scriptwriter William Goldman still manages to keep viewers in suspense throughout the film, which lasts closer to 2½ hours than 2.

All the President's Men is first of all a political thriller, but it is it also a surprisingly realistic account of serious journalism.
