The Van

The Van is the last of three adaptations of Roddy Doyle's Barrytown-trilogy, which also includes "The Commitments" and "The Snapper". The Van has the charm of the previous films in its description of Irish family life and social life, but the plot is too thin for a feature film.

For the third time Colm Meaney plays Larry, whose friend Bimbo becomes unemployed. In contrast to Larry Bimbo can't get used to the indolent life, so he buys an old van, fixes it up, and sells hamburger and fish and chips from it. Larry becomes Bimbo's partner, but maybe this is not such a good idea.
