Review
Colin, an absolute beginner and photographer, becomes involved in the riots in Soho in 1958. Wealthy property speculators plan to make Soho a fashionable neightbourhood, but before they can start to renovate or tear down the houses, they have to drive out the present residents, mostly poor blacks. Colin's girlfriend leaves him for one of the bad rich guys, which gives him another reason to join the residents in their fight.
"Absolute beginners" is a visually impressive musical. Patsy Kensit, Sade and David Bowie sing some of the jazzy tunes.
