Journey to the Center of the Earth is an adaptation of a novel by the French science fiction writer Jules Verne. An expedition begins a perilous journey to the center of the earth. What dangers will they meet? Will they manage to reach the center, and will they make it back to the surface of the earth?
Compared with what can be made with special effects today, the adventure film is not very impressive, but back in 1959 it was probably the best Hollywood could do. It is certainly a film made for the big screen.
It's a good story, but the pace is too slowed down by uninteresting romantic subplots.
