Review

In Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse ("The Testament of Dr. Mabuse") Dr. Mabuse has been sent to Dr. Baum's clinic due to mental illness. Dr. Mabuse may be insane, but he hasn't lost his hypnotic powers. He uses the unknowing Baum to organise a criminal organization that aims at world dominion.

The film, which was made just before the Nazi party came to power in Germany, was banned by the Ministry of Propaganda because Goebbels recognized too many similarities between Hitler and Dr. Mabuse.

It is obvious that director Fritz Lang has been concerned with the technical and stylistic aspects of the film, for instance the montage, but he has not neglected the telling of the story.
