The title of the film suggests a romantic comedy, but Addicted to Love is neither as romantic nor as funny as I suspected. In fact it is rather nasty.
Maggie and Sam meet by coincidence in the building opposite the house where Maggie's ex-boyfriend, the French cook Anton, lives with Sam's former girlfriend Linda. Sam hopes that just by staring at Linda through a telescope - he is an astronomer - she will come back to him. Maggie does not share his illusions. She wants to revenge herself on Anton by destroying his whole life including his relationship with Linda. Sam and Maggie join forces and use all the dirty tricks she can think of.
Surely, Sam and Maggie are not the standard hero and heroine, and I found it hard to identify with them.
