Review

Taxi takes place in a Spanish city, probably Madrid, where 20-year-old Paz has just quitted her studies and shaved her head. If she won't study, she'll have to get a job, so Paz' father lets her drive his taxi in the daytime while he drives it in the night.

Paz meets the son of one of his father's colleagues, Dani, and falls in love with him, but she gradually realizes that Dani - as well as her own father - are involved in a ring of taxi drivers who secretly clean up the streets, i.e. they kill junkies, gay and transsexuals. But is Dani really a fascist?

Taxi deals with some important themes, fascism and racism, in an engaging way. Most of the film is in a realistic vein, which suits the story best, but towards the end the film appears more like a thriller.
