Devil in a Blue Dress is a film noir that takes place in L.A. in 1948. Most noticeably it is primarily set among the black population of L.A. The main character is the black private eye Easy Rawlins who is offered a lot of money to find Daphne Monet, a beautiful white woman with connections in high places. The case seems a trivial one, but as people begin to get murdered around Easy, he realizes that it is more dangerous and complicated than he thought. The plot is in fact at bit too intricate.
Under the crime plot looms a story about black people's living conditions and social status.
