The Wedding Banquet is the Taiwanese director and screenwriter Ang Lee's breakthrough movie, but I think his subsequent movies are better than this slightly amusing comedy of manners.
Wai Tung is a young Taiwanese man who has found happiness in the USA where he is a successful businessman and is living with Simon, an American. Wai Tung's parents in Taiwan do not know that their son is gay so they constantly try to fix him up with Taiwanese women. How can Wai Tung put a stop to this without telling his parents the 'embarrassing' truth?
