The wealthy and self-assured Mrs. Violet Venable offers the young Dr. Cukrovicz is 1 million dollars for the hospital where he works if he will only do a lobotomy on her beautiful, but mad niece Catherine. The neurosurgeon finds out that Catherine has not gone mad, but she is in a constant state of shock because of a traumatic experience last summer.
