Touching realistic drama about 11-year-old Billy who will rather be a ballet-dancer than a boxer. He is encouraged by the ballet teacher Mrs Wilkinson who realizes that he is both serious and talented. At the beginning Billy practices secretly because he knows that no-one and especially not his father, a widower, or his elder brother Tony will understand or even accept his passion. In the working-class mining community in Northern England where Billy grows up in the early 1980s, ballet is not an option. Ballet is for upper-class girls and sissies. But of course the truth will come out sooner or later. Will Billy be forced to give up dancing or will his father and his mates have to change their views on masculinity and class?
