Heartbreak Ridge

Heartbreak Ridge is about Tom Highway, an ageing Marine sergeant who is given the task of turning the sissies and hippies of the reconnaissance platoon into real men and soldiers. The task is not easy to accomplish, as Tom Highway is opposed both by the unwilling and lazy Marines and by his superior, Major Powers, who has not the faintest idea what war actually involves.

Clint Eastwood is grim, foul-mouthed and self-important as the elite soldier who in the end is able to carry out the invasion of Grenada with his battle-trained men with great success. Heartbreak Ridge is dull Cold War advertising for the American military. The film is waaay too long and furthermore has the advantage of a script in which swear words make up the greater part of the dialogue.
