When at her 25th anniversary high school reunion in 1985 Peggy Sue is elected homecoming queen, she suddenly faints - and awakes in 1960. Apart from Peggy Sue's experince and knowledge of the future everything else and everybody else has changed. Now that she knows what she does, the question is if she will live her life in exactly the same way or will she stop dating her boyfriend Charlie and avoid the divorce many years ahead?
Peggy Sue Got Married is a thoughtful and slightly nostalgic comedy with a brilliant Kathleen Turner in the lead.
"Back to the Future", another story of timetravel comes to mind, but Peggy Sue Got Married is not trying to benefit from the success of that film because the script to Peggy Sue Got Married had actually been finished a long time before the adventure movie went into production.
