Deep Rising is an unoriginal clone of miscellaneous monster films, especially the Alien films, but that does not keep it from being nailbitingly entertaining and even funny at times. As a warning: it also has some rather gross effects!
Captain John Finnegan, his small boat and his crew of two are hired by a band of pirates to sail to the South China Sea. The pirates plan to rob a giant cruise liner, but someone or something seems to have got ahead of them.
