Courage under Fire is a solid drama about the Golf-war and more specifically the war as it reality was experienced by the American troops versus the official version, which could be seen in the media.
Lieutenant colonel Nathaniel Serling is set the task to find out if a deceased female helicopter pilot deserves a prestigious medal of honour. It it supposed to be a routine inquiry, but Serling soon realizes that the truth is not so easy to come by. Was Karen Walden a hero or a coward?
The subplot of Serling's own war traumas is less gripping than the main story, but it also illustrates the way the truth is tampered with.
