Blue Thunder is the name of a hi-tech helicopter that plays an important part in all of the film's impressive action sequences, and the experienced helicopter pilot Frank Murphy is the one flying it.
Murphy is a police officer in the squad that surveys Los Angeles from the sky. Together with his new partner Lymangood he comes across evidence that some people high up in the system have terrible plans with the new advanced helicopter. How can he stop them before they stop him?
The beginning of Blue Thunder is quite promising, but the story turns out to be a bit too simple-minded and a bit too stereotypical in the portrayal of the characters.
