In the Company of Men is an unpleasant and deeply disturbing film to watch because it focuses on the unsympathetic traits of its two main characters, Chad and Howard.
The two friends have been sent to a branch office in another city by their company for six weeks. While travelling, they complain about their miserable jobs and their faithless ex-girlfriends. Chad suggests a plan to revenge themselves on the female sex. They must find a vulnerable woman, both court her, and finally spring the truth on her: it was all a game!
The low-budget sparseness of the set and the fact that words rather than images seem to be Neil LaBute's first priority makes In the Company of Men just as watchable on the small tv-set as on the big screen.
