The People vs. Larry Flynt

In the early 70s the complex and controversial porn magazine publisher Larry Flynt caused quite a stir. The People vs. Larry Flynt is director Milos Forman's highly interesting version of Flynt's eventful life. In spite of the main character, the movie itself is a rather sober film, the opposite of exploitative in fact.
The important events in Flynt's life and his loving relationship with the go-go danser Althea take up a large part of the film. So do Flynt's numerous battles in court where he defends his right to free speech, the main theme of this film. This fight almost becomes an obsession with him.
