Enjoyable romantic comedy about a poor, working-class woman, Connie, who is dumped by her no-good boyfriend Steve when he finds out that she is pregnant.
Friendless, homeless and penniless Connie by accident finds herself on the Boston train where she meets the friendly Hugh Winterbourne and his newly wedded pregnant wife Patricia just returning from Hong Kong.
In a tragic railway accident the couple die, but Connie and the child she is carrying survive. By a case of mistaken identies everybody believes that Connie is Patricia Winterbourne and her son Hugh's child. Her generous and wealthy mother-in-law offers 'Patricia' and her baby-boy a home. As Connie has nowhere else to go, what can she do but take up her new identity?
