In spite of a silly plot Her Alibi is a funny comedy about bestseller writer Phil Blackwood who has been unable to write since his wife left him. When a beautiful Rumanian woman is charged with murder, Phil gives her an alibi claiming that she was with him at the time of the murder. Why does he do it? First of all he is attracted to her, and secondly he hopes that she can become his muse.
The young woman, Nina, moves in with Phil who begins to fear that the mysterious beauty is actually a cold-blooded murderer only waiting to kill him.
The comedy of the movie arises from the contrast between reality and the story that he is inspired to write. In real life Phil is a shy and cowardly anti-hero, but in his fiction he sees himself as the courageous hero who is adored by women.
