O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a brilliant magic realist rewriting of Homer's "The Odyssey". The setting of the story has been moved from ancient Greece to the Deep South in the 1930s.
Three convicts, Everett, Pete and Delmar escape and go in search of a hidden treasure. On their adventurous journey they encounter a lot of people, among others the Coen-brothers' version of the sirens and the cyclop. Any delay is dangerous as the sadistic Sheriff Cooley is trying to track them down.
The sparkling wit of O Brother, Where Art Thou? and the clever use of folk music makes one leave the cinema in high spirits.
