Bænken (The bench) is a moving, yet unsentimental social realistic drama with a magnificent performance by Jesper Christensen as Kaj, an alcoholic, who has given up on life. Then a young woman whom Kaj recognizes as his daughter Liv moves in with her son in the block opposite Kaj's. Liv has not heard from her father for years. She has no idea that the unemployed drunk who helps moving her furniture and looking after her son is in fact her father. Kaj grows more and more attached to his daughter and grandson, but still he hesitates to tell the truth because that would entail responsibility, obligations and expectations.
Bænken is a slice of life.
