101 Dalmatians is a live action remake of Disney's animated feature film. Apart from the fact that the animals and the humans are not animated and the story has been updated, the story is not much different from the 1961 production.
101 Dalmatians is most fun at the beginning when the two singles Roger and Anita are brought together by their two lovesick dogs, Pongo and Perdita. Their happiness is shattered when Anita's former employer, the ruthless millionaire Cruella de Vil, sets her mind on getting a dalmatian fur. Roger and Anita refuse to sell Perdita's and Pongo's puppies, but Cruella will not take no for an answer.
During the last half hour John Hughes' influence becomes too marked as the story copies ideas from the "Home Alone" movies.
