Et rigtigt menneske

In the 6th dogma film Et rigtigt menneske ("A Real Human Being") a young man comes out of a wall in a 7-year-old girl's room where he has lived all his life. He is the product of the girl's imagination suddenly come to life when she dies in a car accident. He was her unborn big brother and the only one she could really talk to. Her parents Walther and Charlotte were absorbed by their careers.
The man has no name, no history and no experience. He is taken to a refugee centre where he takes a name, Achmed. He is a fast learner wanting desperately to be a real human being so he even manages to get a job in a shoeshop. Yet, he gets into trouble again and again. His innocence and good intentions are often misunderstood because he does not know or understand the complex and often illogical unwritten codes governing Danish society.
As a satire of Danish society the film succeeds. Expecially the scenes involving the married couple Walther and Charlotte are excruciatingly funny. However, the film is also rather confusing and contrived. Especially the more symbolic scenes suggesting a parallel with Christ seem unnecessary.
