Taxi 1 is an energetic, funny and superficial actionmovie, which proves that Hollywood has not a monopoly of the genre. The Frenchmen are also capable of making exciting and impressive action scenes, coming up with an entertaining story peopled with cardboard characters.
The story is set in Marseilles where Daniel gives up his job as a pizza-delivery boy and gets a job as a taxi driver. Before he had a scooter, now he has a car and can go even faster - if it wasn't for the police in the shape of Émilien. The policeman is trying to catch a group of German bank robbers, but so far he has been out of luck. Now he persuades Daniel to help him. In fact, if Daniel helps him, he will see to it that Daniel does not lose his driving licence. What can Daniel do but accept the terms?
